2nd Annual Community Art Wall - May 2025

Community Art Wall Exhibition Information for Participating Artists

We’re excited to invite local artists to be part of our Second Annual Community Art Wall Exhibition—a shared space to showcase creativity, connect with the NoRa community and celebrate original work.

The exhibit's guidelines and requirements are listed below and must be agreed to by all participants.

1. Artwork Submission

  • Artists may submit one (1) original artwork.
  • The artist must hold full rights to display the work.

2. Community Standards & Content Guidelines

  • All submitted artwork must adhere to NoRa’s principles and community values.
  • NoRa reserves the right to reject or remove any artwork that it determines does not align with the welcoming, inclusive environment fostered within the NoRa community.

3. Public Display & Liability

  • This exhibition takes place in a public environment.
  • While reasonable care will be taken, NoRa is not responsible for any damage or loss that may occur during the exhibition.

4. Exhibition Period

  • The Community Art Wall will be on exhibit from May 9 through June.
  • The exact artwork removal date will be announced in mid-June.
  • Artists agree to display their work for the duration of the exhibition.
  • If an artist needs their piece removed earlier, they must contact NoRa as soon as possible with the requested removal date.

5. Installation Requirements

  • Art drop-off is scheduled from May 5 through May 9, unless otherwise arranged in advance with NoRa management.
  • All artwork must be delivered during the designated installation period and be in a ready-to-exhibit state, including all necessary hooks, wires, or hanging hardware.
  • NoRa’s team will install artwork after hours at the location of their choosing within the exhibition space.
    • By participating, artists agree to allow NoRa to manage the installation of their work and accept any risks associated with the installation process.
  • NoRa can install artwork that:
    • Requires only screws in the wall, or
    • Can be hung using a cable and hanger system (limited supplies available).
  • Please note:
    • The exhibition wall surface is uneven.
    • Artists are encouraged to provide museum putty or similar materials if they would like additional support to help keep their artwork level.

6. Sales of Artwork

  • Artists are fully responsible for all sales of their work.
  • Artists must:
    • Provide clear sales information
    • Handle all transactions directly with buyers
  • Artwork must remain on display for the full exhibition period unless otherwise approved by NoRa.

7. Artwork Labeling

  • Each piece must include a 3” x 5” label with the following:
    • Title of the work (or “Untitled”)
    • Artist name
    • Description (optional)
    • Sale status (if applicable), including:
      • Price
      • Purchase contact information
  • Additionally, artists must ensure that their name and contact information are clearly marked on the artwork itself (preferably on the back). This helps ensure that NoRa can identify and contact the artist if the label becomes separated from the piece.

8. Artwork Removal

  • Artists must remove their artwork within five (5) days after the exhibition ends.
  • Alternate arrangements must be approved in advance by NoRa.

9. Optional Art Auction for Charity

NoRa is seeking artists who are interested in participating in a charity art auction at the conclusion of the exhibition.

  • Artists may choose to include their exhibited work or submit a separate piece for the auction.
  • The auction will support the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina.
  • Participating artists agree to donate at least 50% of the final sale price of the artwork to the Food Bank.
  • Artists will retain the remaining portion of the sale.
  • Participation in the auction is completely optional but strongly encouraged as a way to support the community.

10. Awards and Prizes

NoRa will host a friendly competition featuring all exhibited artwork, with two award categories:

  • Community Favorite (selected by public vote)
  • NoRa Team Favorite (selected by NoRa staff)
  • Each winning artist will receive:
    • A $50 gift card valid at both NoRa and Dog-Eared Books
    • An invitation to exhibit additional work at NoRa at a later date (if the artist has more work they’d like to showcase)

Get Involved

NoRa will continue to accept and install additional artwork as space allows throughout the duration of the exhibition.
